Course Objectives The purpose of this course is to introduce students to theories, concepts, and methods for developing business strategies as an integrated process of management.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Analyze the main structural features of an industry and different stages of industry evolution, and develop strategies that position the firm most favorably.
  • Formulate strategies that leverage a firm’s resources, capabilities, and core competencies.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the concept of competitive advantage and its sources and the ability to recognize it in real-world scenarios.
  • Distinguish the two primary types of competitive advantage: cost and differentiation and formulate strategies to create a cost and/or a differentiation advantage.
  • Formulate strategies for exploiting international business opportunities
  • Make recommendations for vertical or horizontal integration based on an understanding of the conditions under which each of them creates value.
Course Description This course covers basic concepts, tools, and principles of developing business strategies and analyzing competitive environment. The course aims to develop and understanding of managerial decisions and actions that effect survival and performance of business enterprises. The course focuses on knowledge and skills which hmanagers must possess in order to develop strategies under competitive conditions, position their business, decide on boundaries, and increase success and profitrability in the long run.
