HEM 553  Surgical Diseases Nursing

This course includes hypovolemic shock, wound healing, prevention and management of surgical site infections,enteral and parenteral nutrition and nursing approaches, respiratory system, gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, trauma musculoskeletal system, urinary system diseases and organ transplantation which require surgical intervention and associated with the clinic.


HEM 562   Surgical Diseases Nursing Practice

This course includes the development of nursing care management in the fields of General Surgery, Orthopedics, Chest Cardiovascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology, Ear Nose and Throat Clinics, Emergency Departments, Operating Room and Intensive Care Units, which are the fields of surgical nursing and theoretical knowledge.


HEM 503  Physiopathology

In this course, students will be given information about general physiopathological conditions, physiology of systems and will be discussed pathophysiology of common symptoms.


LEE 595  Seminar

Supervisors and students together will evaluate previous research on the basis of rules of academic writing and discuss how to apply skills related to critical reading, understanding, synthesizing and contrasting and comparing. Students will work together with an assigned instructor on a selected area in their discipline. Students are also required to write a paper/report in this seminar.


LEE 599  Master Thesis

This course consists of independently conducting a research project and acquiring the necessary skills required in the process. The student initially specifies a research problem with an advisor, makes a screening and review of the literature. By analyzing the methods used in studying the problem and considering the previous limitations, the student specifies an original research design, hypotheses and measurement tools of the study. Finally, data is collected and analyzed and a thesis including the writing of the theoretical basis, method, results and discussion of the research.

HEM 501  Nursing Research

The importance of the research, scientific method and research, research ethics, steps of the process of quantitative and qualitative research, research designs, basic statistical analysis methods to be used in a research, ability of basic statistical analysis methods in SPSS program, developing valid and reliable survey scales, research use in nursing and evidence-based nursing.


HEM 565  Consultation-Liaison Psychiatric Nursing

This course covers the roles and responsibilities of the consultation liaison psychiatric nurse, the areas of application, frequent mental illnesses in individuals with physical illness, psychosocial care of the individual and his family with physical illness, therapeutic communication, the concept of crisis, psychological care levels, loss process, reducing burnout and burnout experienced by nurses.


HEM 567  Transcultural Nursing

This course covers the topics of health, illness and culture, the cultural factors affecting health and illness, the relationship between religion, health and culture, the definition, purpose, importance and historical development of intercultural nursing, cultural competence and development process, intercultural nursing odels and usage areas in the world, different cultures and health approaches in Turkey, cultural diversity and health practices in Turkey.


HEM 570  Operation Room Nursing

This course covers the fundamental principles of operating room structure, architecture and management, patient positions in the operating room, task authority and responsibilities of the operating room nurse, patient and staff safety in the operating room.


HEM 572  Ostomy and Wound Care Nursing

This course includes, indications of stoma surgery, nursing care before and after stoma surgery, care for chronic wounds and chronic wounds.


HEM 578  Evidence Based Nursing

This course covers advantages and benefits of evidence based nursing practice, levels of evidence, the obstacles to evidence-based nursing practices, and the developing the answerable clinical question (PICO), attainment and evaluation of evidence-based studies.

SKG 501  The Health of the Healthcare Workers and Patient Safety

Institutional culture, patient safety and quality care, building a safe culture, communication and team work, high-risk and priority areas in patient safety, medical error declaration systems, learning from errors and reports, root cause analysis and methods used, safety in hospital environment, drug errors and drug safety, prevention strategies for patient falls and wounds, prevention strategies for pressure ulcer and infections, tools for improving quality and patient safety, workplace conditions and healthcare workers safety, ethical and legal aspects of healthcare worker and patient safety.


SKY 501  Management and Organization in Healthcare

The course includes the theories and approaches to management of health institutions.
