About the Department

The Experimental Psychology Master Program of Izmir University of Economics is a program that aims to train graduates that possess technological, theoretical and conceptual knowledge based on psychology in general and on experimental methodology in depth; know how psychology is positioned as a scientific discipline and how it studies behavioral and cognitive processes on a historical basis; have the competence to compare the methods, fundamental subjects and assumptions of psychology with other disciplines and identify the contributions of psychological perspective at an interdisciplinary level; have a non-discriminative perspective towards different age, race, religion, sexual orientation, disabled, socioeconomic status, gender groups, ethnicity, national identity; have scientific learning, and critical thinking skills; have a curiosity towards human behavioral and cognitive experiences; able to evaluate and internalize acquired knowledge; discusses problems related to behavioral and cognitive phenomena on a creative and scientific critical basis; open to new ideas; take an objective stance and perspective; able to sceptically criticize and assess one`s own ideas as well as new ideas; able to generate original research problems and design scientific research settings using proper research methods; able to formulate research problems and hypotheses in a testable form and operationally define concepts; able to develop research settings adequate to the research problem that minimize the probability of errors and alternative explanations and increase internal and external validity; able to use various measurement tools for measuring defined variables; able to use appropriate statistical methods in analyzing data and able to assess, discuss and communicate data; able to use effective language and verbal skills in expressing psychological knowledge; know and internalized ethical regulations of the Turkish Psychological Association and operate according to these regulations in the operation and execution of all the steps of psychological research including the development of the research design, data acquisition, evaluation and communication.
