    Course Objectives To discuss the development of the awareness of the student about patient safety, which is included in the scope of quality in health, to increase the knowledge and skills in this subject, to evaluate the health institutions in terms of patient safety, to guide the creation of a patient safety culture, to determine the risk factors for patient safety, and to develop awareness of especially reporting and classifying medical errors. is to ensure that he/she plans leadership in reducing medical errors and in all processes, as well as comprehends the importance of employee health and safety issues, increases awareness of the legal dimension of patient safety, and develops a thinking process for in-depth causes of error such as root cause analysis.
    Learning Outcomes

    The students who succeeded in this course;

    • Investigate international patient safety issues
    • Explain institutional culture and safety culture
    • Discuss errors in the use of drugs and safety in drug use
    • List strategies for preventing patient falls, pressure wounds and infections.
    • Identify the relationship between work conditions and worker's health.
    • Explain methods for preventing healthcare workers from risks related to workplace.
    • Review the ethical aspects of healthcare worker and patient safety.
    • Review the legal aspects of healthcare worker and patient safety.
    Course Description Institutional culture, patient safety and quality care, building a safe culture, communication and team work, high-risk and priority areas in patient safety, medical error declaration systems, learning from errors and reports, root cause analysis and methods used, safety in hospital environment, drug errors and drug safety, prevention strategies for patient falls and wounds, prevention strategies for pressure ulcer and infections, tools for improving quality and patient safety, workplace conditions and healthcare workers safety, ethical and legal aspects of healthcare worker and patient safety.
