Course Objectives The structure of the global and Turkish energy market will be studied. Comparison between major existing and upcoming market structure, market-influencing regulation and political strategies as well as major game changers globally and in Turkey will be made and studied in detail. Thereby, special focus is more on commercial side (economics) of global energy production, energy transportation (energy flows), energy trading and policies.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to interpret and have a knowledge about the general structure, functioning, economics, value chain, policies and political strategies of the following markets and exchanges: oil, gas, coal, power, renewable energy & carbon, cleantech & smart grid
  • will be able to develop a strong research interest in deep diving and specializing in one / some of those markets,
  • will be able to discuss and assess the underlying risks, investment opportunities and strategies in those markets,
  • will have an idea of what those markets could look like and behave in near future and in mid-term,
  • will be able to discuss what hot topics could be crucial game-changers in those markets.
Course Description This course is an interactive course with a lot of discussion and exchange of ideas. Focusing on the topics mentioned below, via research material, studies and articles, presentations and active discussions, those topics will be actively studied, assessed, taught and learnt in the course in an interactive way.
