Dear All,

We are delighted to share news on the publication of the DSS2025 Book by IUE Press with an e-ISBN and foreword by Prof. Hazel Clark, as the output of the DSS2025-Failing (Well) in Design Writing symposium with the collaborative efforts of our faculty! Many thanks to all who have participated in the symposium and the book -with a special thank you to Gökhan Mura and Emre Yıldız for their sophisticated contributions, Ali Rıza Bayrak for his efforts on the design.

The DSS2025 Theme focuses on alleged “failures” in design research, design writing and publishing, and seeing mishaps as opportunities for growth and learning. The symposium will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the Izmir University of Economics Campus, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Multi-Purpose Hall.

"Localizing Design Studies: Perspectives on Turkey" (Deniz Hasirci, Tuba Doğu, Deniz Avci, Gozde Damla Turhan-Haskara, Aybüke Taşer (eds.)) has just been published!

Red cabbage, which is frequently used in Turkish cuisine and a favorite ingredient in salads, will add ‘color’ to cosmetic products.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Gözde Damla Turhan Haskara (Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Design Studies Graduate Program co-Coordinator), Filiz Özbengi Uslu (Textile and Fashion Design Research Assistant & Design Studies PhD student), Selen Çiçek (ITU, Architectural Design Computing PhD student), and Anıl Dinç Demirbilek (Industrial Design Research Assistant & Design Studies PhD student) have been honored with the “Research Innovation Award” at the XXVIII International Conference of the Ibero-American Society of Digital Graphics (SiGRADi2024), held in Barcelona from November 13-15, 2024.

Asst.
