The Design Studies Symposium 2023 (DSS 2023), organized in collaboration with İzmir University of Economics Graduate School Design Studies Master's and PhD Programs and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, took place on June 1-2 this year with the theme "Realities and Boundaries". As an outcome of the symposium, the accepted abstract submissions have been published online in the form of an abstract proceedings e-book. 185 students who successfully completed their master's and doctorate degrees at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) received their diplomas with a graduation ceremony full of enthusiasm and excitement. 

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) received a double award at the ‘Innovative Idea Development Workshop in the Electricity Distribution Sector’ organized with the cooperation of Izmir Development Agency (IZKA), GDZ Elektrik and Genç İşi Kooperatif.

The Design Studies Symposium 2023 (DSS 2023) organized by the IEU Graduate School Design Studies programs was held on 1-2 June, at the Multipurpose Hall, FFAD D Block, Izmir University of Economics. The graduate students presented their research under 4 sessions on the first day: X-plorations, Realities, Frontiers, and Crossovers. The faculty continued on the second day with the discussions with the valuable outcomes to improve the programs. The students enrolled in graduate level courses presented their project posters during the symposium.

The voting for the best presentation award at the Design Studies Symposium 2023 (DSS 2023) organized by the IEU Graduate School Design Studies programs resulted in two equally qualified winners:

"Representation of Women and Spaces in Turkish Cinema: A Focus on Southeastern Turkey"
Gokce Cagatay (Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Deniz AVCI HOSANLI, IUE)

"Reframing the Concept of Design Space in the Basic Design Studio”
Selen Cicek (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Mine ÖZKAR, ITU)

145 students, who successfully completed their master's and doctorate education at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), received their diplomas at an enthusiastic graduation ceremony.

Bensu Günay (27), who graduated from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Bioengineering Master's Program this year, was accepted to the University of Graz in Austria as a research assistant. 

IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FFAD) organized a technical trip to Bodrum İçmeler Region Shipyards, Maritime Museum, and Marina under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ö. Osman Demirbaş, Asst. Prof. Dr. M. Emre Ergül, Asst. Prof. Dr. A. Can Özcan and Asst. Prof. Dr. Markus Wilsing.
