FACULTY MEMBER IN MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT WAS FOUNDED BY TÜBİTAK 1001 GRANT
Our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gözde Yazgı Tütüncü in Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics of IEU was awarded 116,870 TL support by TÜBİTAK under "The Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program" of TÜBİTAK, in reference to her project titled as “Visual Interactive Heuristic Solution Methods for Multi Depot Vehicle Routing Problem with Heterogeneous Vehicle Fleet”.
In the process in which only 26% of the referenced projects is deemed worthy of the support, it was specified that a Decision Support System running with algorithms including many advanced mathematical approach, will be developed as a result of the supported project. It was also added that Decision Support System which is planned to be developed within two years, will provide economic benefits by reducing distribution costs when used in supply distribution networks especially in large and complex companies, and ecological benefits by minimizing carbon emissions.
It was also pointed that the knowledge obtained with this project which aims to remain loyal to the principles of sustainability and environmental sensitivity, will be transmitted to master and doctoral students studying at Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences of IUE indirectly. In addition, it was noted that new projects may be proposed for the solutions of different derivatives of Vehicle Routing Problems in accordance with the success of this project.
