Comprehensive PhD Scholarship Application Principles

Students who are eligible for a comprehensive scholarship will have access to the following opportunities:

a) 100% tuition scholarship.

b) Monthly payment in an amount to be determined by the Board of Trustees at the beginning of each academic year.

c) Free accommodation in the dormitory provided by the University or rental support. If the dormitory capacity is not sufficient and the student requests, a rental allowance may be considered.

d) Laptop support provided by the University to the student to be used in his/her education during the scholarship period.

Continuation of the scholarship:

For the continuation of the comprehensive PhD scholarship, the student must renew his/her registration every semester and meet the conditions in articles a, b, c, d, e, f and g.

a) Meeting at least one of the conditions in articles 1,2,3*:

1. To take part as a scholar/researcher in a research project which supported by national and international institutions and organizations such as European Union, World Bank, TUBITAK, TUBITAK, TUBA, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology, BAP etc. (if the project is accepted and the student starts to be supported within the scope of the project, the monthly payment will be discontinued).

2. To have published a publication with IUE address that meets the conditions listed in the Publication Incentive Principles of Izmir University of Economics or to have sent it for evaluation for publication.

3. To have presented a paper in at least 2 national or 1 international conference in his/her field of study.

* At the end of the 4th semester in which the student is enrolled, the evaluation will be made according to the above-mentioned conditions. Afterwards, this evaluation will be carried out every 2 semesters. Students who do not meet these conditions will lose their scholarship. Students in this situation cannot be eligible for the comprehensive PhD scholarship again even if they meet the conditions in the following semesters.

b) For students in the course phase, taking at least 30 ECTS courses each semester and having a semester grade point average of 3.50 and above.

c) To successfully complete the doctoral seminar course.

d) For doctoral students who have passed the proficiency stage, to have received an “S” grade in the doctoral proficiency course.

e) For students who submit a thesis proposal, to have received an “S” grade in the thesis proposal course.

f) Not to have received NP in thesis courses.

g) No disciplinary penalty.

Duration:

The duration of the scholarship is the maximum duration of the program in which the student is enrolled.

Registration Freeze:

Students who qualify for a comprehensive PhD scholarship but freeze their enrollment will not be paid monthly, will not benefit from the right to stay in the dormitory, and will not be provided with rental support during the period they freeze their enrollment. The period during which students freeze their enrollment is added to the scholarship period.
