Course Objectives The aim of this course is to enable students to acquire the ability to analyze financial crimes in various laws, terrorism financing crime, money laundering, OECD-FATF recommendations developed to combat financial crimes internationally.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Students who successfully complete this course will be able to; • Define the concept of financial crimes.
  • Explain financial crimes in various laws.
  • Classify financial crimes in terms of their nature and consequences.
  • Analyze the economic and legal aspects of laundering proceeds of crime
  • Interpret the international and domestic legal aspects of financing terrorism.
  • Discuss the international and domestic law implications of OECD-FATF recommendations.
  • Analyze the situation in Turkey respect to Financial Crimes.
Course Description The concept of financial crime will be explained primarily in the course. Financial crimes against the state administration in the Criminal Law, Tax Laws, Public Financial Management Law and Foreign Exchange Legislation will be discussed. Financial crimes in the Banking Law, the Capital Market Law and the Turkish Commercial Code will be emphasized. The domestic law and the national dimension of the crime of financing terrorism will be evaluated. The economic and legal aspects of money laundering will be analyzed. The international impacts of OECD-FATF recommendations will be revealed. The content and application of Turkish regulations related to financial crimes will be judged in terms of international advice.
