Course Objectives The aim of this course is to examine the regulations regarding collective labour agreements, collective bargaining procedures, strike and lock-out comparatively within the context of the union rights in both international law and domestic law.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explain the meaning and importance of collective labour relations considering the features of the employment contract and the basic principles of labour law.
  • Define the concepts of “employee”, “employer” and “trade union” as the social parties of collective labour relations, in the light of the international documents and the domestic regulations regarding collective labour relations.
  • Discuss the processes of collective bargaining and agreement, and the concepts of “strike” and “lock-out” in a legal framework.
  • Give information about the historical development of collective labour law in the world and particularly in Turkey.
  • Compare the provisions of the Law on Trade Unions and Collective Labour Agreement no. 6356 with the international conventions.
  • Identify the current issues in the field of collective labour law.
Course Description The content of this course consists of the regulations regarding the trade unions, the processes of collective bargaining and collective labour agreement, and the current issues in practice.
