Course Objectives The aim of this course is to provide students with current and evidence-based knowledge about nursing care for their psychosocial problems and their holistic assessment of individuals and families with physical illness.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Students who successfully complete this course;
  • Will be able to define the duties, powers and responsibilities of the consultation liaison psychiatric nurse.
  • Will be able to discuss situation of consultation liaison psychiatry nurse in Turkey.
  • Will be able to explain psychiatric disorders frequently seen in individuals with physical illness.
  • will be able to evaluate the individual who applied to the hospital and his/her family as a whole due to his/her physical illness.
  • Will be able to describe the emotional, cognitive, developmental, behavioral responses and psychosocial problems of the individual and his/her family who applied to the hospital because of his/her physical illness.
  • Will be able to axplain psychiatric examination, consultation methods and the process of monitoring the patient and family of the individual with physical illness.
  • Will be able to plan evidence-based psychosocial care interventions ranging from primary protection to rehabilitation for individuals with physical illness and their families.
  • will be able to evaluate the effect of psychosocial care for individuals with physical illnesses and their families.
Course Description This course covers the roles and responsibilities of the consultation liaison psychiatric nurse, the areas of application, frequent mental illnesses in individuals with physical illness, psychosocial care of the individual and his family with physical illness, therapeutic communication, the concept of crisis, psychological care levels, loss process, reducing burnout and burnout experienced by nurses.
