Course Objectives To examine the social and aesthetical progress of fashion by means of movements which cover the history of fashion in the 20th century, originating from the significance of reference to the past and retrospective interpretation in contemporary fashion practice.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Student will be able to evaluate social, cultural and artistic progress of fashion in the 20th century.
  • Student will be be able to make interpretation of contemporary fashion with an historical point of view through references made to past in current designs and images.
  • Student will be able to expand the knowledge of fashion as well as developing critical point of view to fashion by following historical and contemporary literature.
  • Student will be able to evaluate the social history of fashion upon relations and boundaries between fashion and other design disciplines , art, social sciences , and philosophy.
  • Student will be able to analyze historiographical formation and literature of fashion in the passage to 21th from 20th century.
Course Description A conceptual survey on visual world of social climate, artistic styles, designers, fashion items and their users in order to interpret historical influences on contemporary fashion
